Image result for the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind full movieMy favourite film ending; hard to think… but I'd say it is the ending of The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, it shows how simple the complexity of love is, it gives the feeling that despite it all love prevails, it leaves behind a sense of joy that comes from the maturity gained after feeling deep love which makes me have this film as one of my favourite ones in life.

The film starring Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey ends when, after having gone through a complex emotional and medical process to forget about each other, they meet again and try to get back together but she says that things will get harder and once again they’ll want to split apart, to which he replies “Okay”, and also she does the same, letting the audience perceive that in the simplicity of that “ok” there are thousands of emotions ripened deeply in each other’s heart, after hard and complex times which were lived together leaving the audience wanting them to continue loving each other despite difficulties.

In the previous scenes we see that the conflict solves and that each one of the lead actors wanted to forget about the other, even they went to a doctor to make them forget about all the pain that the relationship produced in them, however, in the final scene, for some reason that is related only to the mysteries of love, both protagonists get together once again and decide to go on with life and their relationship, understanding at last that difficulties, personal barriers and selfishness have not prevented them from loving each other and thereof they decide to keep on letting love prevail after all.

As mentioned, during the first scenes of the films we saw the couple struggling to forget the other and stop feeling love for one another just for the reason of giving the first priority to their own needs without really considering the other, and by the end of the movie the twist comes forward in the word of “ok” spoken by each character, representing their way of giving more importance to the relationship instead of their selfish needs which in a sort of conventional way, gives the message of maturity acquired, represented in that the vision of maturity comes along with the sense of empathy and commitment which at any rate I consider now to be a key knowledge obtained only with loving experience coming from family, friendship, a pet as well as with a romantic experience.

It is finally “ok” to think that this movie might be viewed from many other perspectives but still continues to have one of my favourite endings because it makes one relate to personal visions like the vision that love is complex in its simplicity and it is strong and necessary because it prevails after all showing that we have gained maturity because in order to feel it, we need to stop being selfish and understand that even through hardship and time, love is there.
